About Pono Ono Poke
Pono Ono Poke is a hawaiian bbq in Evanston, Illinois. It is listed at 1630 Chicago Ave, Evanston, IL 60201, which places it among the local businesses of Evanston that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Evanston, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Illinois run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11 amβ9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. Its website is ponoonopoke.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 444 reviews, which is a strong result for a hawaiian bbq in Evanston and suggests consistent service.
Evanston is in Illinois, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. Getting around Evanston is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across Illinois's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Pono Ono is the best poke in Evanston, and also some of the best value for money meals in Evanston too! You get lots of toppings included in the price, the service is always friendly and fast, and there are always places to sit. Its my go-to and I would definitely recommend.

The food is tasty enough, but the portions are disappointing. They aren't generous with their portions of fish. They could definitely add more rice too. They also added an absurd amount of ginger to fill the bowl. It is a waste of ginger. I like poke bowls, but this place was not a good example of what poke bowls can be. Going here for lunch on a weekday was disappointing.

dude working there is an artist - look how good this bowl looks - also tasted great - got the island poke, good option if you want something clean and not too saucy

A charming poke spot with lush greenery and a welcoming vibe. The ingredients felt fresh, but the fish portions were on the smaller side, and the flavors were a bit mild for my taste.

Best Poke Place ever! Kind of hidden but follow the good music and vibes to find all this: + The food is always fresh & it tastes as good as it looks π + Great choice of fish + Great choice of self-made sauces + Great choice of toppings + Best Chicken you can get in the Northern Chicago suburbs + Fantastic atmosphere & concept (you feel like you are in Hawaii there πΊ) + They have recycling and biodegradable to-go boxes. I hope there will be reusable water cups in the future as well! I love to sit outside in the summer with the music. All the people that work there are very nice. Would totally recommend this place to everyone!!
